2003-02-05 10:40 / wireless joy »Just got myself a Pheenet WL-522BA wireless access point. A slightly pricey choice these days at £99 including delivery, but it was the cheapest I could find that (a) had better than 64bit WEP, and (b) could be configured from a web browser rather than some windoze conf tool on the end of a USB cable. It's still miles cheaper than an airport of course, and shucks who cares about cute design when the whole point is to hide my hardware in the cellar away from the girlf. Anyway, it works marvellously so far: 80% of the connection blue bar shimmies on the mac, it has MAC filtering that wasn't mentioned on the site, and it does that super 22Mbps thing although I've no idea yet if my other machines support that. Only problem so far is that opening an ssh connection from the imac to the router now takes forever - 'tis fine once authentification is done - but from the router to the imac is as it was before ... !? | ||
